Kentucky Hotel Offering World’s First Plant-Friendly Experience, What It Means For Guests

You travel with your dogs, so why not your plants? A hotel in Kentucky is offering what it’s calling “plant-friendly” specific hotel rooms for those not wanting to leave home without their leafy possessions.

Plant-Friendly Hotel

The Elwood hotel in Lexington, Kentucky, is dubbing itself as the world’s first plant-friendly hotel. What does that mean? Starting April 8, 2022, the hotel is designating specific rooms and suites to have the perfect natural light for your houseplants. There are six rooms set aside for plant guests, all featuring large windows perfect for soaking up the sun. The boutique hotel is also offering the Gardener’s Premier Corner Room Package, which includes a $10 food credit each day of your stay, botanical bath offerings, and a potted succulent to take home.

About The Elwood

Elwood is no stranger to making history. It’s named after historic 1904 Kentucky Derby winner Elwood, the first horse bred and owned by a woman to win the prestigious race. It seems only natural that the Elwood would make more history by being the first plant-friendly hotel. Plus, looking at the beautiful building, you’ll see it’s outside walls are painted with flowers and inside, according to the local paper, the hotel plans to partner with local company Pemberton’s Greenhouse to add more plants to the property.
